Bondi Discloses Investigation into Trump Opponents and Jeffrey Epstein Ties

On Friday, the Attorney General appointed Jay Clayton to lead an inquiry into opponents of Donald Trump and their connections with the late financier. This action came shortly after the president instructed her to launch the probe.

In a statement, Bondi commended Clayton as “among the nation’s top prosecutors”. The official remarked, “This case will be addressed with speed and honesty to ensure public transparency.”

This development seems to diverge from a July memo from federal authorities which declared that documents related to Epstein lacked grounds for further inquiries. According to the memo, investigators “found no proof justifying probes into uncharged individuals”

Trump Calls for Focus on Democrats in the Epstein Case

The announcement comes as increasing pressure from Trump on congressional Republicans to resist the full release of Epstein-related documents ahead of an upcoming House vote in the coming days. Several lawmakers are anticipated to support the disclosure.

Newly public emails from Epstein have spotlighted the president’s previous connections with the sex trafficker, including information that he knew more about Epstein’s conduct than he has previously let on.

On Friday, the President declared he would direct the Department of Justice to examine connections between Epstein and Democratic figures, specifically naming prominent individuals such as Clinton, Summers, and Hoffman. Paradoxically, Trump also referred to the “Epstein hoax” as a “scam”.
