Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Is Here, Unveiling Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination shared the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this Wednesday. The reveal happened in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
The sequel to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will propel Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Cosmic Adventure Based on Classic Games
Much like the Wii-era games that serve as its inspiration, Mario will venture away from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who seemingly wields metal-based powers. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also features references to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands
The feature will see the return of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The new Mario movie is planned to debut close to the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.
The company has a trio of new releases publicly declared for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
