American enterprise Waymo has declared that its autonomous vehicles will be operational for hire on London's thoroughfares starting next year.

London will emerge as the first European city to introduce an self-driving taxi service, similar to those currently operational in multiple US cities and four other American urban centers using Waymo's innovative technology.

Waymo stated that its fleet are currently heading to London and will commence operating on the capital's roads in the near future with experienced operators behind the wheel.
The company – initially formed as a derivative from Google's autonomous vehicle initiative and belonging to the Alphabet family – explained it would expand services and collaborate with the government transport body and London's transport agency to obtain the required licenses to provide completely driverless services by 2026.

Additional organizations, including Uber and the British tech company Wayve, have likewise announced their own intentions to test autonomous taxis in the capital next year.
This comes after the government officials confirming it would accelerate regulations allowing real-world tests to occur before laws supporting driverless transport is enacted in full.
